In the ongoing investigation into the black marketing of tickets for the India-New Zealand World Cup cricket semi-final at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai police apprehended a man with two complimentary tickets, each valued at ₹1.2 lakh. The semi-final match is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, and the recovered tickets were originally meant for VIPs or special invitees.
Authorities from the J J Marg police station conducted the arrest, urging fans to exercise caution and purchase tickets only from official websites to avoid falling victim to fake ticket sellers operating near the stadium.Previously, the police had arrested event organizer Akash Kothari for allegedly engaging in ticket black marketing, selling them at significantly inflated prices.
The authorities have already cautioned the public against such illicit practices and emphasized the importance of obtaining tickets through official channels. The investigation is ongoing, with additional arrests anticipated as the police continue their efforts to curb the illegal sale of tickets during high-profile cricket matches.
